It's All Country

It's All Country -- Music Entertainment Painting
Tom is very happy to announce the completion of the fourth and final music entertainment painting, a tribute to country music. Country (also called Country and Western) is a music genre originating in the Southern and Southwestern United States. First produced in the 1920s, Country Music primarily focuses on working class Americans and blue-collar American life. Country music is known for its ballads and dance tunes (also known as "honky-tonk music") with simple form, folk lyrics, and harmonies generally accompanied by instruments such as banjos, fiddles, harmonicas, and many types of guitar (including acoustic, electric, steel, and resonator guitars). Though it is primarily rooted in various forms of American folk music, such as old-time music and Appalachian music, many other traditions, including African-American, Mexican, Irish, and Hawaiian music, have also had a formative influence on the genre. Blues modes have been used extensively throughout its history as well.

Hip Hop & Rap

Hip Hop & Rap -- Music Entertainment Painting
Tom is very pleased to announce the completion of a third of four music entertainment paintings, a tribute to Hip Hop and Rap music. Rap is original poetry recited in rhythm and rhyme over prerecorded instrumental tracks. Rap music (also referred to as rap or hip-hop music) evolved in conjunction with the cultural movement called hip-hop. Rap emerged as a minimalist street sound against the backdrop of the heavily orchestrated and formulaic music coming from the local house parties to dance clubs in the early 1970s. From its humble beginnings in the Bronx, NY, rap music has moved into the mainstream, redefining the soundscape and character of American popular culture and contributing to the growth of a multi-billion-dollar entertainment industry.

Guitar Legends

Rock Stars -- Music Entertainment Painting
Tom is excited to announce the completion of second of two music entertainment paintings, a tribute to the greatest rock stars ever. Almost everyone enjoys music and the way a song, album or artist can bring back the fondest of memories. It is with this very thought in mind, that inspired Tom to create this music entertainment painting, Rock Stars. The notion of a “Rock Star” was first mentioned in the very early 1960's — before that and for a while after as well, the biggest musicians of this new, fast evolving musical genre were simply pop stars. There came a time in the mid ’60s when rock ‘n roll overwhelmed the pop charts, and the previous giants of record sales, the Sinatras and Miles Davises, receded into the distance, and the generational seam between the Baby Boomers and their parents was sealed. So this is a painting of rock stars, not necessarily the best musicians, or most important songwriters, (although there are many of them included). A rock star is, perhaps by definition, undefinable. They just are. They’re luminescent. Even when, in some cases, they didn’t want to be.

It is with this very thought in mind, that inspired Tom to create this music entertainment painting, Guitar Legends. Guitar Legends will mesmerize you with an enormous number of great guitar players, past and present, all included on one canvas. From Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton to BB King and Chet Atkins, Guitar Legends includes so many greats! Whatever your preferred style of music, you're sure to find one of your favorite guitar players included in this painting, but only if they are truly, a for real Guitar Legend.

Wimbledon Champions Tribute -- Tennis Championship Painting
Tom Has completed another new champions tribute painting, a tribute to the Wimbledon Champions. The Championships, Wimbledon, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. It has been held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London since 1877 and is played on outdoor grass courts, with retractable roofs over the two main courts since 2019. Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, the others being the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open. Wimbledon is the only major still played on grass, which is the traditional tennis playing surface. Also, it is the only Grand Slam that does not conduct night matches, imposing a night curfew instead. The 135th edition is currently being played and it marks the centenary of the inaugural championships staged at the Centre Court.

Los Angeles Rams Tribute -- NFL Team Painting
Tom is happy to announce the completion of another new championship team tribute painting, a tribute to the Super Bowl LVI Champions, Los Angeles Rams football team. The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in Cleveland, Ohio. The franchise won the 1945 NFL Championship Game, then moved to Los Angeles in 1946, and became the only NFL championship team to play the following season in another city. The Rams made their first Super Bowl appearance at the end of the 1979 NFL season, losing Super Bowl XIV to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31–19. After the 1994 NFL season, the Rams left southern California and moved to St. Louis, Missouri, becoming the St. Louis Rams. Five seasons later, the team defeated the Tennessee Titans to win Super Bowl XXXIV, 23–16. The club then lost Super Bowl XXXVI, 20–17, to the New England Patriots. After the 2015 NFL season, the team sought and received approval from the other owners to move back to Los Angeles in time for the 2016 NFL season. The Rams appeared in Super Bowl LIII but lost to the Patriots, 13–3. Three years later, the Rams won Super Bowl LVI 23–20 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Atlanta Braves Tribute

Atlanta Braves Tribute -- MLB Team Painting
Tom is very happy to have finished another new painting, a tribute to the Atlanta Braves baseball team. The name "Braves", which was first used in 1912, originates from a term for a Native American warrior. They are often referred to as "America's Team" in reference to the team's games being broadcast on the nationally available TBS from the 1970s until 2007, giving the team a nationwide fan base. From 1991 to 2005, the Braves were one of the most successful teams in baseball, winning an unprecedented 14 consecutive division titles, and producing one of the greatest pitching rotations in the history of baseball. The Braves won the National League West division from 1991 to 1993, and after divisional realignment, the National League East division from 1995 to 2005. They returned to the playoffs as the National League Wild Card in 2010. The Braves advanced to the World Series five times in the 1990s (1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, and 1999), winning the title in 1995. Since their debut in the National League in 1876, the franchise has won an MLB record 21 divisional titles, 18 National League pennants, and four World Series championships – in 1914 as the Boston Braves, in 1957 as the Milwaukee Braves, and in 1995 and 2021 as the Atlanta Braves.

Tom is excited to announce another new painting, a tribute to the Pittsburgh Steelers football team. The Steelers of the post-merger (modern) era are among the most successful NFL franchises. The team is tied with the New England Patriots for the most Super Bowl titles at six, and they have both played in (sixteen times) and hosted (eleven times) more conference championship games than any other team in the NFL. The Steelers have also won eight AFC championships, tied with the Denver Broncos, but behind the Patriots' record eleven AFC championships. The team is tied with the Broncos and Dallas Cowboys for the second-most Super Bowl appearances with eight. They lost their most recent championship appearance, Super Bowl XLV, on February 6, 2011.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tribute

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tribute -- NFL Team Painting
Tom is happy to offer another new painting, a tribute to the Super Bowl LV Champions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team. The Buccaneers were regarded as a perennial losing franchise for most of their first two decades of existence due to suffering 26 consecutive losses in their first two seasons (including a winless inaugural season) and 14 consecutive losing seasons from 1983 to 1996. Despite this lack of success, they are the first post-merger expansion team to win a division championship, a playoff game, and host a conference championship game; a feat they accomplished by their fourth season in 1979. Aided by the Tampa 2 defensive scheme, the team improved their image around 2000, culminating in their first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XXXVII. This remained their only playoff win for nearly two decades until they won their second title in Super Bowl LV.

Negro Leagues Tribute

Negro Leagues Tribute -- Baseball History Painting
Tom is very happy to announce he has finished work on a great new, and much deserved, tribute painting to Negro Leagues Baseball, Negro Leagues Baseball Tribute. African-Americans began to play baseball in the late 1800s on military teams, college teams, and company teams. They eventually found their way to professional teams with white players. However, racism and "Jim Crow" laws would force them from these teams by 1900. Thus, black players formed their own units, "barnstorming" around the country to play anyone who would challenge them. In 1920, an organized league structure was formed under the guidance of Andrew "Rube" Foster-a former player, manager, and owner for the Chicago American Giants. In a meeting held at the Paseo YMCA in Kansas City, Mo., Foster and a few other Midwestern team owners joined to form the Negro National League. Soon, rival leagues formed in Eastern and Southern states, bringing the thrills and innovative play of black baseball to major urban centers and rural country sides in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. The Leagues maintained a high level of professional skill and became centerpieces for economic development in many black communities.

Eric Church Tribute -- Commissioned Artist Tribute Painting
Tom has completed work on a great new commissioned tribute to singer/song writer Eric Church. Focusing mainly on sports and entertainment subjects, this is Tom's first time painting a tribute to a musical artist. A combination of the persistence of a huge Eric Church fan and the additional time made available by the pandemic situation has created an opportunity to branch out and try new things. The goal here was to take the client's identified albums and songs, and translate them into a visual story. Hopefully, the result reflects the love this Eric Church fan has for this incredible singer/song writer. See if you think it captures on canvas the deep, meaningful feelings the lyrics of these songs induce.

Tom is excited to announce the the completion of another painting, a tribute to the supercars manufactured in the United States in the 1960s or early 1970s, Classic Muscle Cars. The term muscle car originated for 1960s and early 1970s special editions of mass-production cars which were designed for drag racing. Muscle cars often have large V8 engines in the most powerful configuration offered for a particular model, rear-wheel drive and a relatively lightweight two-door body all together being designed for straight-line drag racing, while remaining street legal. Muscle cars became an official industry trend in 1966, as the four domestic automakers "needed to cash in on the supercar market" with eye-catching, heart-stopping cars.

Women's Soccer Tribute -- USA Women's Soccer Painting
Tom is very happy to announce he has finished work on a great new, and long overdue, tribute painting to the United States women's national soccer team (USWNT), Women's Soccer Tribute. The team is the most successful in international women's soccer, winning four Women's World Cup titles (including the first Women's World Cup in 1991), four Olympic gold medals (including the first Olympic women's soccer tournament in 1996), and eight CONCACAF Gold Cups. Off the field, the team endured an escalating legal fight with the United States Soccer Federation over gender discrimination, with players pointing out their vastly lower pay as compared to the U.S. men's national team despite a much higher record of success. Their actions resulted in a new collective bargaining agreement on April 5, 2017. The agreement would, among other things, lead to a pay increase and reduce the disparity between the USA Men's and Women's soccer teams but, does not guarantee the U.S national women's team equal pay with the men's national team. The USWNT began the new decade by winning both the 2020 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament (which qualified the team for the 2020 Summer Olympics) and the 2020 SheBelieves Cup titles.

New Orleans Saints Tribute

New Orleans Saints Tribute -- NFL Team Football Painting
Tom has put the finishing touches on another new painting, a tribute to the New Orleans Saints football team. For most of their first 20 years, the Saints were barely competitive, only getting to .500 wins twice. In 1987, they finally qualified for the NFL playoffs for the first time in franchise history, but lost to the Minnesota Vikings 44-10. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and much of the Gulf Coast region. The Superdome was used as an emergency, temporary shelter for displaced residents. The stadium suffered damage from the hurricane (notably from flooding and part of the roof being torn off as well as internal damage from lack of available facilities). It was rumored that Saints' owner Tom Benson might deem the Superdome unusable and seek to legally void his contract and relocate the team to San Antonio, where he had business interests. Ultimately, however, the Superdome was repaired and renovated in time for the 2006 season. The New Orleans Saints' first post-Katrina home game was an emotionally charged Monday Night Football game versus their division rival, the Atlanta Falcons. The Saints, under rookie head coach Sean Payton and new quarterback Drew Brees, defeated the Falcons 23-3, and went on to notch the second playoff win in franchise history. The 2009 season was a historic one for the Saints. Winning a franchise-record 13 games, they qualified for Super Bowl XLIV and defeated the AFC champion Indianapolis Colts 31-17 winning their first NFL Championship.

After three AFL championships, in 1962, 1966, and 1969, they became the second AFL team to defeat an NFL team in an AFL - NFL World Championship Game, when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV. The Chiefs then struggled to find success in the playoffs for many years, including losing 10 of 11 playoff games from 1993 to 2017, which included an 8-game losing streak. Since then, the Chiefs have won 4 of their last 5 playoff games, including Super Bowl LIV, which earned the franchise their first championship in 50 years. The Chiefs are BACK!

Where's Daisy?

Where's Daisy

As a fun and unique identifier, I would place Molly, (inset) my West Highland Terrier in nearly all of my paintings. After a long, special and loving life, our beautiful Molly passed on and to help fill the incredible void, we welcomed Daisy to our family. Daisy, like Molly before her, will continue make a subtle appearance in each of my future paintings. Can you find Daisy? How about Miss Molly? Daisy blends in well with her surroundings and she is sometimes very difficult to spot. As you view the paintings in the gallery, keep an eye out for Daisy or Molly and ask for clues if you just cannot find her. I might be willing to help. Check out ALL my paintings in the Gallery.
